Running Drills in the Park

A lovely evening to return to Woburn Park with Sarah to get stuck in to some natural running form drills.  A 1500m warm up in the Newtons and then a quick change into the Vibram Fivefingers for a single set of drills (3 reps of 3 drills) and then an easy run home still in the Fivefingers.

Lots of deer to keep us company although they pretty much ignored us and just made a pretty back drop to our favourite training ground.


Back on the track tonight….

The plan was for 4 x 4 x 400m off 2 minutes with 400m recovery between sets.

Having missed the warm up I used the first set to get up to speed, work hard on the second set, blitz one rep in the third and then recover to finish on just 3 x 4 x 400m
rep times: 1:39, 1:36, 1:30, 1:22; 1:20, 1:20, 1:21, 1:21; 1:16, 1:39, 1:35, 1:30.

The main sets were run in Newton Distance and the quick lap in Inov8 Tri Xtreme 225s


Major league running at Stantonbury track

Yep, it was big boys stuff at the track on Monday with 12 x 400m off 2 minutes. This is the first time in 5 years that I have attempted this and, although my splits were not too clever, they were at least consistent as I tracked young James H on each rep.  There was not enough time to change shoes and so the whole set was run in my Newon a distance racers.  Splits of 1:26, 1:27, 1:27, 1:27, 1:27, 1:29, 1:27, 1:27, 1:27, 1:26, 1:26, 1:24.  Not bad on an almost balmy night – the first warm night this year.
